New Cup Format 2008/2009 Season

The cup league group stages will take place from 6th Sept till 28th Sept 2008  (4 matches). This will help towards the league re-grading process the make sure teams will have competitive football at their own level.

The Under 8s to Under 10s play in five team leagues four groups per cup competition (every 20 teams) four matches in all.

The four group winners make up the cup semi-finals line up.

The four group runners up make up the shield semi-finals line up

The cup finals will now take place earlier from early April 2009 thus avoiding the religious events that happen from mid April up to end of May.

Any outstanding cup group fixtures that didn't take place within first four weeks of the season will take place during winter break Dec 2008 to Jan 2009.

New League Format 2008/2009 Season

All leagues in SSG from Under 8 to Under 10 will now consist of ten teams in each division. League fixtures will be played from 4th Oct till 29th Nov 2008 (9 matches). Then take a winter break until 7th Feb 2009, before remaining (9 matches) which will bring us up to May 2009

The Under 10s age group will now be (9aside) league only.

All (9aside) games to be reduced to 25mins each way. The (7aside) stays at 20mins each way

Discontinue with the Under 11& Under 10 (7aside) as there is not sufficient numbers

The Under 7s age group will remain at same format from previous year with six team leagues re-grading at Oct bank holiday weekend and again after Xmas. Then playing full set of fixtures (home/away) in six team leagues bring us up to May 2009.

The above changes will helps us at SSG manage our league better than previous years with every fixture now becoming a competitive fixture. Each team will have eighteen league fixtures and approx between four and six cup fixtures for the season. The SSG winter break Dec 2008 till Feb 2009 will help rest pitches avoid all unnecessary phone calls calling off fixtures etc. Statistics from the recent season shows only small fraction of fixtures actually got played.
